Newman, Born Jandowae Queensland 1965, Studied Commercial Art, Queensland College
of Art, 1980 - 1983
In 1988 he moved to Melbourne, pursuing a career in the fashion industry. Studying
textile merchandising, he worked directly with some of Melbourne's cutting edge
designers, whilst still producing artwork for private commissions.
Newman's first exhibition was at the "Chapel off Chapel", Gallery in
South Yarra. His work has gone into private collections overseas, interstate
and locally.
In 1996 Newman moved back to Queensland to be closer to family and to enjoy Noosa's
more relaxed lifestyle. His work is displayed in local business houses in the
area and Brisbane, also featuring in the "Inside out" magazine.
Newman;s work is a play with texture, form and colour.
