Natalie Dyer was born in England, lived in countries as diverse as Germany, Africa, Saudi Arabia and New Zealand, before settling in Australia at the age of twelve. From childhood she was a keen artist; wherever she went she translated the exotic colours and shapes around her into art.
On finishing school her drawing skills gave rise to a job as a trainee Graphic Designer with a Sydney advertising agency. At the same time she studied at the School of Graphic Design, on completion of this course she owned and operated a very successful graphic design studio.
1996 Moved to Brisbane with her husband and four children , where she painted and conducted art classes.
1998 Moved to Noosa, where she now paints full time. Her love of painting is apparent in the versatility of her subject matter; she enjoys crossing the boundaries between traditionalism and photorealism, as can be seen in her finely detailed paintings of wildlife and her more relaxed and colourful impressionistic approach in landscapes, streetscapes and still life.
Her aim, she says, is to ‘help people appreciate some of the beautiful things of life that daily pressures may cause them to overlook’, and that is clearly evident in her work. She works hard to capture moments of special mood, emotion, light and texture. Her paintings are distinguished by fine observation and attention to detail, so that even the simplest subjects become imbued with a subtlety, richness and originality that draw the eye to them again and again.
Natalie's work has been acquired by many overseas visitors, as well as local and interstate collectors who recognise her fine work.
